ENERGY INVESTORS FUNDS CLOSES INVESTMENT IN SOLAR POWER PARTNERS, INC.

MILL VALLEY, CA (September 30, 2008) Energy Investors Funds (“EIF”), an established private equity fund manager that invests in the U.S. energy and electric power sector, is pleased to announce that United States Power Fund III, L.P. (“USPF III”) has closed its investment in Solar Power Partners, Inc. (“SPP”), a leading national solar energy services provider.  Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

SPP partners with businesses, municipalities and institutions to provide them with clean solar power-generated electricity by contracting with them to install solar panels on their property.  Customers sign power purchase agreements to purchase the electricity generated by the solar panels at fixed rates.  The funds will be used by SPP for nationwide corporate expansion and project development.

“We’re extremely excited about our investment in SPP,” said Jose Torres-Monllor, a Senior Vice President with EIF.  “SPP provides a win-win for its customers by providing them with low-cost, clean electricity at locked-in rates.  We continue to see great opportunities in the clean energy space and look forward to working with SPP to grow their business.”

SPP has projects completed or under construction in California and Hawaii, with plans to expand nationally.  SPP’s customers include airports, hospitals, schools, and supermarket chains.

“Partnering with a firm of EIF’s stature is a great testament to our business model and future plans,” said Alexander v. Welczeck, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPP.  “We believe solar power is a wonderful alternative for companies and cities looking for affordable, clean, consistent electricity.”
